Call to Order, Roll Call, and Opening Remarks
Chair Antoine called the North Main Street Task Force meeting to order and established a quorum with roll call. The task force observed a moment of silence for an individual who passed away at a bus stop and received a brief update regarding the RIPTA Wave program connection with Miriam Hospital.
Item 1: Lighting Progress Implementation Update
Kyle Delgado presented an update on the North Main Street lighting project memo detailing restored lighting, new installations on utility poles, and median decorative lighting. The task force voted to enter the memo into the record and continue the presentation to the following month when the contractor could attend.
Item 2: Discussion Relative to Speed Data
The chair reported that Lieutenant Brown was unable to attend the meeting due to a conference and introduced plans for an intern to assist in analyzing updated speed data. The task force voted to continue the speed data agenda item to the March meeting.
Item 3: Road Safety Assessment Implementation Update
Sean Raymond of RIDOT presented progress on completed Road Safety Assessment (RSA) items, including leading pedestrian intervals, no-turn-on-red signs, and upcoming traffic reconfigurations. Task force members discussed grant funding opportunities, red light camera enforcement, intersection improvements at Olney and Doyle, and pedestrian data collection.
Public Comment
A member of the public commented on research regarding red light camera vendors and shared plans to pursue a $10,000 grant to pilot planters at the Olney intersection for pedestrian safety. Task force members and the commenter discussed structural considerations regarding planter placement and impact resistance.
Future Agenda Items and Adjournment
Chair Antoine outlined future agenda topics including economic development, municipal court ticketing, and the upcoming Vision Zero report release scheduled for March. The task force then voted in favor of a motion to adjourn the meeting.

We had a great presentation from from Miriam about their build out. One of the areas of conversation was about connecting Miriam to Rita and having him sign up for the wave, and that is all happening. So it is moving along.

So Kyle's gonna have about a two sentence update, but what was supposed to happen tonight is that Brian from Prism, our contractor for the lighting project, is gonna walk us through some updates if we do have a memo, which you know that we will end with it. I don't forget. And we'll we'll talk about that for a minute, but Brian was gonna present to us.

Based on the last conversation, there were some questions that were more pertaining to his life and expertise, and he's gonna be able to use the Avari tool. Unfortunately, he said, so he did provide us with this memo that is, you know, on the front page here. We have an overview of the completed tasks so far, some of which we talked about before, some of the newly installed lights. There are some of the lights that was already installed, but they had power outages that we've been able to restore. And then there's a slew of new lighting equipment that we're looking to put on existing utility pole that is the northbound side, you know, right above the no burial ground and then the Long Road Burial Ground from the southbound.

So we put some submissions to the power around energy to kind of generate tools for that. So we're looking to know the process of getting those approved. And then we also have a PO achieved specifically for the decorative lights to be installed on the median between Olin and Bill and Randall. So we don't have a estimated ship date just yet for that order. We want to keep putting anything, we'll have more of an update on that next time.

And then there's a bunch of other highlights on the next page of ongoing activities based on. And then the subsequent pages are the visuals, something of our tool. Again, it's kind of difficult to say what it is and what is in the outline and what we can spill it. As a reminder, when all is said and done, we'll have spent about five hundred thousand dollars underwriting for North Main. This was something that has been both highlighted as contributing to a more recent process as well as, you know, having amazing laying conversation last spring. And so I've been really hustling to as this would be something we can address in the short term that would be the long term planning, getting much of this to, like, tie while we're doing all this. And I heard. When all is then done, the council will spend about $500,000 on all this new lighting.

And so he's gonna send someone instead to talk about the data they've gathered and have been analyzing, and that person is like, so double whammy. It's just not our day, guys. But lieutenant Brown Doug had access to data from the updated speed from they've redone the speed sleds.

I've also connected him with an intern that I have, Josh, who's a student at William, who's joining me this semester for credit working on transportation related policy stuff. It's not on the screen, but I'm really excited. So as we know, the RSA is in final, final, final, final yet. We will get you that final copy when it's here, but there has been early implementation done. And it would be really great to talk through, you know, some of the stuff that's happened already, some stuff that's in the works, and then also thinking through the task list that isn't that that near final draft we've all reviewed. Like, not all of it is write up.

Some of it is the city. Some of it is rated to city departments. Some of it can be done by community members. So we'd love to just have this conversation about, like, the shared responsibility of implementing the RSA together and what that looks like for being around the table.
