Providence Board of Contract & Supply-Monday, January 13, 2025-2:00 PM
Call to Order and Roll Call
The meeting was called to order by the acting chair, and the clerk conducted the roll call. A quorum was established with ten members present and two absent.
Election of Chairperson
A motion was made and approved to elect the chair for the meeting. Deputy City Solicitor Michael Calisi was also recognized on the record.
Section B: Opening of Bids
The board opened and recorded bids for multiple department contracts including Housing and Human Services, Police recruit medicals, and the lease of Camp Cronin. Following the readings, the board voted to refer all opened bids to the city clerk's office.
Section C: Advertisements
The board moved to Section C to review proposed public advertisements. A motion to approve the advertisements as submitted was voted on and passed.
Section A: Review and Approval of Items 1-5
The board reviewed agenda items under Section A and clarified the grant funding amount for the community-based recycling outreach project. Items one through five were subsequently approved via a roll call vote.
Section D: Approval of Minutes
The board reviewed the meeting minutes from December 30, 2024. After clarifying the legal voting rules regarding abstentions, the minutes were approved.
Section E: Discussion on School Construction and Vendor Metrics
The board discussed tracking local resident employment and minority business enterprise spending in school construction projects. Members also discussed purchasing ordinance limitations, veteran considerations, and review committee processes.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was introduced and seconded. The motion was unanimously approved, and the meeting concluded.
