have four present, one absent, and have a form. Thank you so much. And I would like to recognize City solicitor's office. We have Betty Shaw with us tonight. Thank you very much.
The wonderful clerks, Tyler and Donham. Thank you very much. And with that, I am going to ask for a motion to continue items one
Silva, thank you so much for joining us this evening. Thank you, chair.
to tell us about this item for $19,461.60?
This request is to purchase fire hose, specifically attack hose, which is our engine recorder hose that we use to enter into a burning building to a single supplier. Firepower management are very particular fire hose. And the reason being that we go with this provider, this vendor is the external and internal biomarkers, the friction loss specification for holes matter quite significantly as you imagine. And so that we don't have to place all the holes in one ear. This is what we replace over here.
This is the sole provider of this manufacturer hose in the fire vendor world. It's all franchise agreements as you think of. So whether it's Matex hose or Conquest hose, you only have one vendor that you purchase those from. And so decades ago, this was the form, fashion, the hose they selected. This is the hose that we maintain here.
So this request is to purchase replacement hose for.
K. And I'm sorry. Just just for clarification, you're saying that this is the only only one who makes manufacture systems?
That's right. And I believe the letter is in there from the vendor that's been a sales force provider for the last.
Committee members. Questions? Yes. Counselor. Counselor Santana.
Thank you, chairman. Thank you, chief. I just wanna say thank you to you and your department the past couple of weeks. I know you guys have been going through stuff like Sure. Yes.
More than you can. So I appreciate that. My only question, just for my own clarity, so is this, like, an actual hose or, like, pieces to the hose?
It's actual hose. So to give you perspective, I mean, it's that hose. Most car those lines actually for lines of 200 feet long, but that's comprised of four fifty foot sections. So one of the theory I wanna, like, it rips or it bursts. Because we stay with the same manufacturer, we can place that one fifty four section and then leave the other three sections intact.
Whereas, we change vendors, the external diameter position recorder as an example. The internal layer of the
Thank you. The expert over here. My other question is how where does this, like, fall in line in, like, the overall maintenance and of our hoses?
Like We spent approximately $35,000 a year on hoses. So this $19,000 is is more than 35,000. Okay. Thank you. You're welcome.
Other questions? I just have one. I see that this company that we're purchasing from, so there's 0% MBE, 0% WBE. Is this a large workstation?
MES is, like, a national what happened most inspired companies is it's a big corporate complex that purchased stuff for small buyer vendors. So MES has a less work office, but they are cash.
Thank you, chairman. What is the thought process behind not just buying the 35,000 needed in a year at once? We're so able to break it up.
This is just because $90,000 of the each and every quarter just is spectacular. So, like, we have five inch meter holes. We have to make sure that's all the doses. So it's taking assessment over every year and say, hey. This jump hose can get for the air.
This jump hose has to replace. So and so at that assessment, it's fully recognized that we finished the quarter. Or last year, we did our five inch, so we're good for the air. So that's kind of what we all do. Thank you.
You're welcome. I'll make a motion to approve.
Motion to approve made by counselor Taylor, seconded by counselor Sanchez. All in favor? Aye. All opposed?
And instead, as you imagine, the vendor is.
Then all the other organizations, all these other states, they have to go somewhere to receive this kind of training. Is that
what you're saying? So most of them do what we prefer to as promotional schools. Kind of every department besides how they teach their new officers. General program. You've trying to work with the state to kind of love that program.
They're just so inundated because it's basic entry level course programs. They haven't been able to develop these more advanced programs. So our goal eventually is to transition away from a vendor back to
a state fire pattern model. Right now,
How was this university selected? So we kind of didn't
so just put different programs and research programs. It's kind of two, I'll say, three organizations that do the standardized training. These National Association of Biochemists, ProBoard, and NIPSAC. And so ProBoard and NIPSAC are two accrediting accrediting agencies in the country that say, yes, this is a qualified program that meets the standards. And so this is the only all this program is online.
You know, parts and person may come to. It's the only online portion that we find that meets those credit standards. And I have seen that social supply sheets have filed with this university
Who are the department runs the training?
So division training is run by chief. This class in particular is taught by two retired chiefs. One for. And the other one being chief last week. They write a lot of textbooks that we use from materials that fit natural.
And then just the last question.
Did so this training happened already? No. This is a promotional school training. So assuming we if you don't approve it, then we'll get them to take the classes. Awesome.
A lot of things come to us once they're already purchased or occurred. So just for clarity purposes. Thank you, chief. I appreciate
Radiatic extractors is a very fancy word for a large commercial washing machine. And so these are specialized washing machines that extract the carcinogens and chemicals, from the liquids, and other masses in the substance that might be not fired from here. So five years after fire or after a. They'll utilize these gear extractors. The air checks themselves for a $120,000 in total, that is paid for through a federal branch.
What this piece is is the installation and hard mounting of these extractors because if significant items, they can be hard mounted to the concrete, and they have to be elevated at least one foot so that the water drains appropriately from the extractors. We have half from operational now who would be able to utilize all the property to install so they have level of capability. Some of them. And these are the ones that need a more technical service model to install them. So the $66,000 would get all the grant purchase extractors operational.
The bulk of the cost is the physical units from that, and then installation cost is 22,000, and that's when they provide contractor or the approved vendor to do this.
A lot of this is late for
