I just wanna say moment to send condolences and prayers, to the family of, the breakdown of a homicide here in city of Providence. Yeah. It's it's very difficult situation, but I know that police department is on top of it and is doing their best to try to bring justice. No one else gonna lie to it. They're gonna they're gonna live with the victim.

I'll try to keep an eye out on you, but thanks for making your best attempt to to be here with us today. So let's start with the agenda. First is before I start, wanna welcome Bob Beard officially part of the committee. Thank you.
you wanna strictly summarize the organization you're you're representing here? I'm representing the justice assistance, which is a nonprofit in Princeton. We focus on providing resources and services for, men and women who have had contact with the judicial system. I'm the manager of client services for our course program, which is, you know, primarily focuses on those resources and and those services.

Okay. Item number two, mission sleep and development. This is something we've talked a handful of times now, and it's kinda time to actually deal with at this point. I'm not sure where my policy staff is, but I have a couple drafts, so you might have to do come back to to that point unless anyone else has anything they wanna add regarding that. But I think we've all kind of came to the conclusion that some sort of statement.
It doesn't have to be anything crazy, but we should have something to kind of guide us in the right direction. Okay. We'll move on to item number three, crime statistics, a discussion around crime statistics and neighborhood insights. Corey, you wanna jump in on this one?
Yeah. So as I talked about last time, I put together a map. So I'm not sure how we can if I can pull that on my computer, the map, or should I pull it up on there?

Yeah. So before I put this up, I just wanna say this is really, like, kinda my suggest chime in on how you think, kind of our work should be focused. But I think, you know, really, if we can quantize the need, put a number to it, and then, you know, kind of examine the different capacities from community organizations to, state institutions and city institutions and come up with a sort of strategic plan, but also a number of how much money we need and where is the different possible places the money can go and then different places we can get the money, then we have something to work towards. Right? And, also, wanna give kudos to I'm gonna say his name wrong, Kenny, who formerly led the Nonviolence Institute and then was one of the founders because, you know, what they did in Chicago, we what this is a replication of.

Jeremy, I'll give a quick update if you'd like. Yeah.
So DOJ has started to make awards. So we are hoping, in the next week or so, that we'll hear about the community violence intervention grant that the AG's office has applied for, which would result in a significant amount of funding being put into the community for CVI programming. So, hopefully, in the next maybe by the end of this week or by the end of next week, we'll have we'll have an answer. Mhmm.
Thank you, PJ. Just, from my understanding, I guess, the group's understanding, so the attorney general's office, you and the states applied for this grant, and that is looking to open up, like, smaller grants for community partners to apply for around this work?
Yep. Don't know the exact until we get the award, don't know the exact number of awards, but we're looking at probably close to $3,000,000 that would go into communities, not just in Providence, majority in Providence, but Providence, Pawtucket, Central Falls, and and the rest of the state. So, but there is a significant amount of money that will go into the community.
Right. Sounds awesome. Thank you. Yeah. I mean, that's a that's an important point there because, like, obviously, we're based out of Providence, but, I mean, gun violence, pants to the street gun violence in Central Kentucky impacts our community as a whole.
We're in just a greater state. So anything that we can do to, you know, champion advocate for CVI, dollars and programs statewide, that's that's obviously an important factor for what that we're doing. Yeah.
So, yeah, this is what I created. At first, I made the map. But before we get into the map, I kinda realized that I need to, like, explain what the map is doing and, like, kinda what I believe our process should look like. And I think, like, right now, we're asset mapping, which is, like, what resources exist, what resource do we need, and then how do we make the resources that exist communicate. Throughout this process, we should be engaging with community continuously, whether it's using the bodies that, you know, are already doing that work and bringing that information here or even if it's going out to the community and telling them, you know, we're at this point in our work.
Before we get to this phase, we wanna know what do you guys think about it. And then defining our vision, which is kind of part of the mission statement and, you know, kind of part of this work as well, identifying resources and capacities. Like, if we are able to get $3,000,000 tomorrow, who can take on what to to what level? Right? You know, where would we have hiring troubles?
Where would we have, you know, financial challenges where, you know, accounting for that amount of money might be hard for a smaller organization that's kinda scaling up? And then where could we have funding clips in the future. Right? And then developing strategies and action plans, and then implementing the plan. So if you click yeah.
