Providence City Council Meeting | April 25th 2024

I am calling this public hearing on Thursday April 25 to order. I'd like to note that we have Councilwoman Peterson and Councilwoman Vargas here with us.

you very... Oh, I like this new microphone. This is great. Thank you very much council president. My name is Shelly Peterson obviously representing Ward 14.

I was the vice chair for the ward boundaries committee and we were able to do, just to talk a little bit about our process, we were able to do four different meetings throughout the city. We had meetings over at George J West, Nathan Bishop, PCTA and the Silver Lake Community Center to try and get community members to come out and advocate on one particular map. We had three different maps to choose from and ultimately we chose in accordance with what was presented on the ballot, what was passed on the ballot. We just wanted to make sure that this process was done and ready and prepared for an active election process. That's pretty much all I've got.

Thank you so much Councilman and thank you to all of the members of the Ward Boundaries Committee for helping to make sure that we could have a school board election this fall. Thank you. There are no further people signed up to testify. There were a few late additions. If you would like to sign up, we can facilitate that.
