Call to Order and Roll Call

Approval of Minutes

The commission reviewed and voted to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held on January 18, 2022. The motion to approve passed unanimously.

Director's Report

The director provided an update on the appointment of Manuel Cordero to the commission to replace Christine West. He noted that a full complement of seven members is expected by the next meeting.

Referrals 3503 & 3508: Eastwood Avenue Abandonment and Rezoning Discussion

The commission discussed the proposed abandonment of a portion of Eastwood Avenue and the concurrent rezoning of adjacent lots to M-1. The applicant explained that these changes would allow for the expansion of an existing storage facility.

Vote on Referral 3505: Abandonment of Eastwood Avenue

27:39 - 28:32

The commission voted on the recommendation to abandon a portion of Eastwood Avenue. The motion passed unanimously with a positive recommendation to the committee on public works.

Vote on Referral 3508: Rezoning of 28 to 40 Eastwood Avenue

The commission voted on the rezoning of 28 to 40 Eastwood Avenue from R-2 to M-1. The motion passed unanimously to send a positive recommendation to the city council.

Referral 3506: Rezoning of 1144 Eddy Street

The commission discussed a request to rezone 1144 Eddy Street from M-1 to MMU-75 to facilitate the operation of a charter school. After a debate regarding the suitability of school sites near highways, the commission voted to issue a positive recommendation.

Referral 3507: Rezoning of 681 Valley and 75 Rathbone Streets

The commission reviewed a request to rezone 681 Valley and 75 Rathbone Streets to MMU-75 to allow for a mixed-use development including a theater and residential units. The motion passed unanimously with a positive recommendation to the city council.

Referral 3509: Abandonment of Penrose Avenue

The commission discussed the proposed abandonment of a portion of Penrose Avenue between Blackstone Boulevard and Grotto Street. Following a discussion on property boundaries and public access, the commission voted to recommend approval.
